Depression: Maybe It’s More Than Just The Blues

The National Institute of Mental Health estimates that about 18 million Americans suffer from some form of depressive illness.  The economic cost of depression is high, but the cost of human suffering cannot be measured.  Depressive illnesses usually interfere with normal functioning, not only to those who have the disorder, but to those who care about them as well.

Many individuals with depressive illness do not seek help, although a great majority can be helped.  Thanks to years of fruitful research, there are now medications and counseling therapies that have proven to be very successful to treat depressive illness.
